He reportedly paid $35 million for his spot on the Soyuz TM-16 spacecraft, which will take him to the International Space Station for a 12-day stay. Laliberte undertook this mission to publicize the world's growing shortage of clean water. He is the seventh paying space tourist to travel to the ISS.
