Paleontologists searching the Sahara Desert for dinosaur bones got more than they bargained for when they stumbled upon a vast human burial ground along the shores of a lake that dried up long ago. The remains belonged to two distinct civilizations that lived in the same area separated by about a thousand years. The first of the two groups settled there approximately 10,000 years ago. While the Sahara is now the worlds largest desert, changes in the Earths orbit some 12,000 years ago brought seasonal monsoons north, creating what scientists are calling a "green Sahara." Abortion Does Not Raise Risk of Mental Illness August 17, 2008 05:00:00 The mental health risks associated with abortions have long been debated, but the American Psychological Association is now reporting that having one elective abortion of an unwanted pregnancy does not increase the risk of developing mental health problems such as depression. A panel appointed by the group found that the relative risk of mental health problems for adult women who have a single elective abortion is no greater than for those who carry the pregnancy to term, though it appears that women who have mental health problems before becoming pregnant are at greater risk following an abortion. - [Read more]
